  We stayed at the Lone Star Altitude on 1/26-28. I had a $25 deduction off my security deposit because we "didn't take out the trash". To start, we did take out the trash. We left the house/cabin spotless. My wife and I are always very diligent in making sure we leave something better than when we arrived. We travel a lot, and are very clean people. In fact, the only dumpster available near by was down the street. So we loaded all the trash in the car, and took it down the street. I paid a $154 cleaning fee, which is more than adequate for somebody to clean any house in Ruidoso, incuding taking out the trash. (I have friends locally that clean houses for other establishments in Ruidoso.) A SECURITY DEPOSIT should solely be used as such, not for "cleaning", especially when I paid $154 that's non refundable to begin with!!! We not only emailed, but called THREE times to try to talk to somebody about this. Nobody could help and said "we will have the person you need to talk to call you back." And nobody did. 4 attempts to talk to someone and I've gotten nowhere. On top of that, the "how do I HAVE to help you" attitude from the booking person was anything but pleasant. This was my 2nd stay with Hummingbird, and there won't be a third. Shame on me for there even being a 2nd.

  Our family of four spent a few nights recently at the "Heaven Sent" cabin in Ruidoso, and our experience was outstanding. The cabin was stocked beyond our expectations: movies, books, coffee, decaf., spices, hot chocolate, deer corn, bird seed, fire wood, starter logs and much more. The deck was amazing, and we used both the gas grill and the gas fire pit. Deer came on several occasions to the feeder that as 10 yards from our bedroom window. The cabin was conveniently located a couple of miles from town but still felt secluded in the woods. Neighboring cabins were easily visible, but it still felt like a private retreat in the woods. The stillness and beauty of the tall pines and clear, dry air was refreshing. The owners work hard to make this a nice retreat to share with others, and we certainly enjoyed our time there.

  We own The Lazy Moose Lodge and have been working closely with Hummingbird Cabins to completely update our cabin. While we live out of town management has been wonderful in accommodating our requests for help. We have painted the entire home, added new TV's, a new couch and all new bedspreads and bathroom items. In a few weeks the entire outside will get a new face lift. Management is always easy to contact and get help for us since we cannot be there. They have done a majority of the work for us with no hassle.
